An explosion occurred at the Kostenko mine in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. Regional governor Ermaganbet Bulekpayev said that 11 people died as a result of the explosion. Later, "Zakon.kz" reported that the number of victims reached 16 people, and 31 people were missing. "I express my deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the dead miners," Bulekpayev wrote on his Facebook page. According to him, 252 people were in the mine at the time of the accident, 205 miners were brought to the surface. "As soon as I arrived at the mine, an operational staff of responsible persons and colleagues was formed under my leadership. We will be with you and support you in these difficult days," added Ermaganbet Bulekpayev. 40 rescuers, 10 technicians and 3 psychologists are working at the scene to provide assistance to the relatives of the dead and injured.
