An agreement on the establishment of an international organization for the Russian language was signed at the CIS Heads of State summit held in Bishkek.

The initiative to establish such a structure was announced earlier by the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Jomart Tokayev. Russian leader Vladimir Putin proposed to locate the headquarters of the Russian language organization in Sochi. He also expressed hope that the activities of the organization will start soon.

Vladimir Putin thanked Kasim-Jomart Tokayev for the idea of creating such an organization.

"Kasim-Jomart Kemelyevich, thank you very much for this initiative," Putin said.

As Yuriy Ushakov, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, noted, the new organization "will not be limited to the Commonwealth space" and will be open to all interested countries for membership.
