Among the tasks assigned to hokims in Uzbekistan, those that are not specific to their activities will be canceled

In Uzbekistan, the exact limits of the duties and functions of hokims at the regional and district (city) levels are defined. This is provided for in the "Uzbekistan-2030" strategy project announced for public discussion.

According to it, more than 70 overlapping functions of government departments and ministries will be optimized. Among the more than 500 tasks assigned to the authorities, those that are not specific to their activities will be canceled.

The formation of local executive authorities based on democratic principles, including the introduction of the system of election of governors and the legal basis for their early dismissal will be created.

The role of authorities in determining the state unit and structures of regional executive bodies will be increased, and a "registry of powers" will be formed according to the tasks (functions) performed in the regions.

In addition, the practice of governors leading the local council will be completely abolished, and the legal status of the chairman of the council, the main tasks and functions, and the scope of responsibility will be clearly defined. Depending on the population of the region, up to 5 permanent professional deputies corps will be formed in each local council. More than 300 functions of local councils will be revised and the non-specific ones will be abolished.
