Ambassador: thanks to Magomayev's performance, the song "The Best City on Earth" became the anthem of the capital of the Russian Federation

BAKU, Aug 17 - Sputnik. Today we celebrate a significant date - the birthday of Muslim Magomayev, the great Azerbaijani singer, composer and cultural figure, on whose songs several generations of Soviet people grew up.
This was stated in an interview with Sputnik Azerbaijan by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Azerbaijan Mikhail Evdokimov.

The diplomat came to honor the memory of the legendary performer to his resting place on the First Alley of the Honorable Burial in the capital of Azerbaijan.
"For all of us - Soviet citizens and citizens of Russia - Magomayev is forever in our hearts, so on this day we honor the memory of him," Evdokimov said.

According to him, the song "The Best City on Earth", dedicated to Moscow, became the unofficial anthem of the Russian capital after its performance by Magomayev.
The diplomat also expressed his admiration for the monument to the performer installed on his grave.
"A beautiful monument, made with a soul! This is exactly how Magomayev has remained forever in our memory," the Russian Ambassador noted.

Recall that today the legendary Azerbaijani singer, idol of several generations Muslim Magomayev turns 81 years old.
Every year on August 17, numerous fans and close friends come to his grave in Baku. All of them keep the memory of the great singer in their hearts, prolonging his immortality.
