Alisher Qodirov Proposes Luxury Wedding Tax

On January 16, at a press conference, Alisher Qodirov, chairman of the “National Revival” party, proposed introducing a luxury wedding tax based on the number of invited guests to reduce extravagant celebrations.

He emphasized that weddings with many guests lead to wasteful spending of family income. According to the proposal, the more guests are invited, the higher the tax will be. Qodirov noted that the main purpose of a wedding is to announce the marriage of the couple, and large expenses are not necessary for this. He stressed that excess funds should be spent not on weddings, but on children’s education, housing, cars, or other useful needs.
