Alisher Navoi Monument Unveiled in Tbilisi
In Georgia’s capital, Tbilisi, a grand ceremony was held to unveil a monument to the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi. The event was attended by Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the Alisher Navoi monument symbolizes the cultural ties and friendship between Uzbekistan and Georgia. It was also noted that one of the central streets in Tashkent is named after Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli, who has a monument there, while in 2026 one of Tbilisi’s central parks was named after Alisher Navoi. This was recognized as a vivid expression of mutual respect and cultural relations between the two nations.
