Alimony payers can now travel abroad through insurance policies

A new convenience has been introduced for alimony payers in Uzbekistan. According to the new regulations, persons obliged to pay alimony may travel abroad for up to three months with an insurance policy.

In accordance with the amendments issued by a joint resolution of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service, the state enforcement officer will temporarily suspend the travel restrictions of alimony debtors who apply with an insurance policy attached. Insurance policies are issued by companies licensed for this activity. Its availability is automatically checked by the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement through the information system.

This type of insurance covers the risk of non-payment of alimony due to the alimony payer's travel abroad and non-return. The terms of the insurance are determined in the general agreement between the MIB and insurers. The new regulations came into force on November 26.

Previously, travel restrictions were temporarily lifted only in cases of health necessity or when the President, Cabinet of Ministers, or parliamentary delegation were involved.
