Albania’s first AI minister addressed parliament

Albania’s government-appointed Minister of Artificial Intelligence — the bot Diella — delivered her first three-minute speech in parliament. Appearing on screen as a woman in traditional Albanian dress, Diella introduced herself to the deputies and reminded them of the rules of the constitution.

She stated that “in serving, what matters is not chromosomes or blood, but responsibility and transparency,” emphasizing that her role is not to replace people, but to assist them.

Diella was introduced last week by Prime Minister Edi Rama. She is responsible for public procurement, and the plan is to gradually transfer this sector under the supervision of artificial intelligence.
