Albania’s AI Minister Announced to Be “Pregnant”

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has announced that the country’s virtual Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Diella, is “pregnant.” The unusual statement has quickly gone viral and sparked discussions across global media.

According to Rama, Diella will soon “give birth” to 83 “mini-Diellas” — artificial intelligence assistants that will be assigned to each member of parliament. These AI helpers will analyze information, monitor parliamentary sessions, and support legislative decision-making.

The Prime Minister explained that the initiative aims to digitize public administration, reduce human errors, and enhance transparency in government operations. He added that this marks a new step in integrating AI technologies into public service in Albania.

Diella was created in 2024 and became known as the first “digital politician” in the country. She has delivered official statements, participated in government meetings, and interacted with citizens online. Now, her “offspring” — the mini Diellas — are expected to make the work of parliament more efficient and data-driven.
