Akmal Shukurov case: judges who commuted the sentence were arrested

Earlier, it was reported that the judges who commuted the 8-year prison sentence of Akmal Shukurov, who beat a man into a coma, to restriction of liberty, were dismissed. Now the Prosecutor General's Office has announced that a criminal case has been opened against these judges for abuse of office.
As part of this case, the former deputy chairman of the Tashkent City Court, Murodjon Mirzajonov, and former judges of the city criminal court, Odilbek Ilhomjonov, Mirziyod Abidov, and Mukhtarama Turgunova, were involved in the case and taken into custody.
According to the investigation, they illegally commuted the 8-year and 1-month prison sentence imposed on Akmal Shukurov by the court of first instance, replacing the sentence with restriction of liberty, and released him from the courtroom. Later, based on the prosecutor's protest, the case was reconsidered, the appeal decision was overturned, and Akmal Shukurov was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison and returned to prison.
The preliminary investigation into the case is currently being conducted by the Prosecutor General's Office.
