China’s UBTECH company has unveiled the humanoid robot UWORLD U1, designed for conversation and emotional support. With hyper‑realistic silicone skin, facial expressions, and emotions, it looks almost indistinguishable from a real person. According to the company, more than 13,300 pre‑orders have already been placed, with initial deliveries scheduled for September. Prices start at $17,600, with the most advanced model costing nearly $146,000.

The U1 uses artificial intelligence to hold conversations, analyze the user’s emotional state, remember habits, and adapt over time. It can remind users to take medicine or offer encouraging advice. For an extra fee, its appearance can be customized to resemble a loved one, a celebrity, or even a fictional character. UBTECH stated that the robot is mainly intended for people living alone and the elderly.
