"AI Attendance" System Launched in Tashkent Schools

Schools in Tashkent’s Sergeli district have begun monitoring student attendance using artificial intelligence (AI). The capital's administration announced this development.
The "AI Attendance" system automatically records students' arrival at school and their participation in classes using smart cameras and Face ID. If a student misses a class without a valid reason, an SMS notification is sent to their parents.
The system also identifies instances of repeated absenteeism. Absences due to illness are automatically accounted for through integration with the Ministry of Health’s DMED system.
Additionally, the system analyzes how classes are organized, student engagement, and teaching methods. This data is used to improve the quality of education and identify issues in a timely manner.
Currently, the system is operational in 26 schools across the Sergeli district, with a total of 446 smart cameras installed.
Depending on the results of this pilot phase, there are plans to gradually roll out the system to other schools in Tashkent.
