The agreement on the creation of a joint regional air defense system by Kyrgyzstan and Russia has entered into force. The relevant document is published on the official portal of legal acts of the Russian Federation.
"In order to improve air defense in the region, the parties are creating a joint regional air defense system of the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic, which is an integral part of the joint air defense system of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States," the document says.
It is noted that the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Russia on the creation of a joint regional air defense system of August 16 was ratified by Federal Law No. 183-FZ of May 29, 2023. It came into force on November 2 of this year.
For the deployment of Russian troops, the Kyrgyz Republic will transfer a 5-hectare plot of land to the Russian Federation free of charge for the duration of the agreements. The agreement is concluded for a period of five years with automatic renewal for five years thereafter, if neither party notifies the other of its intention to terminate it at least six months in advance.
Earlier, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh approved in three readings the ratification of the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Russia on the creation of a joint regional air defense system.
