Advertising of fast food and sugary drinks for children may be restricted in Kazakhstan

A proposal has been put forward in Kazakhstan to restrict the advertising of fast food, sugary drinks, and products high in sugar, salt, and saturated fats that are targeted at children and adolescents. The country's Ministry of Health announced this initiative.
The Ministry has drafted legislative proposals to limit the promotion of such products on television, radio, social media, and through outdoor advertising. The potential impact of these restrictions is currently being assessed.
The goal of the initiative is to reduce the influence of marketing on children's food choices and to foster healthy eating habits from an early age.
According to Ministry data, 23 percent of children aged 6–9 in Kazakhstan are overweight, while 6 percent are classified as obese. Additionally, 17.5 percent of adolescents consume energy drinks on a weekly basis.
