The Asian Development Bank will allocate 93 million dollars to Uzbekistan for the development of human capital. Funds will be directed to increase the competitiveness of industrial sectors, vocational training of youth and unemployed population.
The Minister of Poverty Alleviation and Employment Behzod Musayev held a meeting with the members of the delegation headed by Ayako Inagaki, Head of the Human Resources Development Sector of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
During the meeting, negotiations were held on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of human capital development in the country, implementation of new initiatives.
Opinions were also expressed regarding the implementation of the $93 million agreement signed between Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank under the "Development of Skills for the Modern Economy" project.
"This project will develop human resources as a skilled labor force in sectors such as construction, textile and garment industry, information and communication technologies, agribusiness and food industry, technical and equipment service," the report says.
Earlier, it was reported that the Asian Development Bank will lend 125 million dollars to Uzbekistan. These funds will be used to resupply 12 power transmission lines with a total length of 359 km in seven regions: Bukhara, Fergana, Kashkadarya, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Navoi and Tashkent, as well as 220 kilovolt lines in Fayzabad, Obihayot, Zafar and Zarafshan. It will be used for the reconstruction of four substations.
For information, Uzbekistan became a member of the ADB in 1995, and since then the bank has provided loans, grants and technical assistance to the country in the amount of about 11 billion dollars.
