Accident Involving Zafarabad District Governor: Governor Himself Was Behind the Wheel

It was previously reported that G‘ayratjon Eshpo‘latov, governor of Zafarabad District, was involved in a road traffic accident. The district administration has now issued an official statement regarding the incident.

According to the statement, the accident occurred at around 7:45 a.m. on August 30 in the area of the “Nurafshon” mahalla. A MAZ truck was turning left when it entered the path of a Kia Seltos traveling in the opposite direction and driven by the governor. The vehicles collided.

Reports had circulated on social media claiming that the governor’s son was driving the car. However, according to official information, the governor himself was behind the wheel, while his minor son was a passenger in the vehicle.

As a result of the accident, the governor and his son were injured and hospitalized in the intensive care unit. The governor’s son suffered a leg fracture, but his condition has improved. The truck driver was not injured.

A criminal case has been opened, and preliminary investigative measures are underway.
