As part of a large-scale anti-corruption campaign in China, 176 medical facility leaders have been arrested in the past few weeks. This was reported by the Global Times.
Beginning in mid-July, Chinese authorities arrested hospital leaders in more than 20 regions of the country. The administration of Shensi province alone received 2,521 reports of Health corruption, after which 937 people were investigated.
According to health expert zhun Chungmin, corruption in the medical field is “a serious problem that undermines the trust of the Chinese health system”.
Zhjun argued that such crimes would lead to misallocation of medical resources because the funds allocated for the treatment of patients would be misspent.
