Abkhazian leader resigns amid protests

We previously reported on the outbreak of protests in Abkhazia. Abkhazian President Aslan Bzhania announced his readiness to resign on condition that protesters leave government buildings. He noted that if this demand is not met by November 19, he will withdraw his resignation. The Abkhazian opposition has announced its intention to form an interim government if Abkhazian leader Aslan Bzhania refuses to resign.
According to the opposition, the investment agreement with Russia is a “direct transfer of interests” to Abkhazia. This document has caused mass protests in the region. The administration of the president of Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia has announced that it is preparing to withdraw a controversial bill on ratifying an investment agreement with Russia amid mass protests.
