The first technologically advanced waste landfill is being built in Uzbekistan, the cost of which is 16 million dollars. This was reported by the Ministry of Ecology.

The cost of construction of the waste landfill in Ohangaron, intended for the household waste of the residents of Tashkent city and Tashkent region, is 16 million US dollars.

The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank in accordance with the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 15, 2020 "On measures to improve activities in the field of handling household and construction waste in Tashkent". The total area of the project is 30 hectares, and the landfill itself is 25 hectares.

According to Rafael Bekmullin, head of the "Makhsustrans" branch for waste reloading and disposal, the landfill works on the basis of a completely new technology.

The landfill is designed for 15-20 years and can hold about 20 million tons of waste. Its construction will be completed by November of this year.
