A strong earthquake occurred in Kamchatka

On the night of September 19, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake was recorded on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. Its furnace is located about 100 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, at a depth of 10 km. Aftershocks of magnitude 5.8 were observed after initial shaking.

The Russian Academy of Sciences rated the magnitude 7.4, while the governor said the strength was 7.2. So far, there is no information about the victims. The U.S. announced the threat of a tsunami.

Also on July 30, Kamchatka had its strongest earthquake since 1952, magnitude 8.8. Seismic activity in the area is very high, an emergency mode of natural nature has been introduced.
