A record number of illegal cigarettes were burned in Tashkent

In cooperation with the Customs Committee and a number of organizations, an event was organized to eliminate 228 thousand 144 cans of cigarettes from illegal circulation.At the event in Tashkent, it was said that all the cigarettes burned were found in the same apartment, the price of which was almost 3.3 billion rubles.It is reported that on February 22 this year, employees of the Customs Department of the Tashkent region and representatives of other law enforcement agencies held a quick event in one of the apartments in the Mirabad District of the capital. It found that more than 228,144 cans of tobacco of more than 140 types produced abroad and smuggled in illegal ways were being illegally stored there.

According to the verdict of the Mirabad District Court on criminal cases on June 15 of this year, the destruction of this tobacco product obtained as material evidence in the criminal case was established.

Those responsible for the briefing organized for journalists and bloggers said that in 2022, customs authorities put an end to the illegal realization of 1,619,000 cans of cigarette goods worth 19.8 billion in 338 cases of violations. In 85 cases, criminal cases were initiated by customs authorities on cases of this offense. There were also 253 cases in which administrative cases were handled and referred to the courts for review.In the past 6 months of this year, 1 million 610,000 cans of cigarette goods worth 37.5 billion in 155 cases of violations were smoked by customs authorities. On cases of this offense, criminal cases were filed by customs authorities in 53 cases, as well as in 90 cases, administrative cases were sent to the courts for consideration. In addition, 12 cases of violations related to illegal cigarette products are being considered by customs authorities.

In 2022, more than 1 million cans of illicit circulation were destroyed, and in the past period of 2023, more than 100,000 cans of cigarette goods were destroyed as prescribed. According to the analysis, there is an attempt to illegally import tobacco products into the territory of our Republic mainly from Turkey, Russia, UAE, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.

When analyzed in the cross section of the interior regions, the most illegal cigarette products being detected fall into the contribution of Namangan, Fergana regions, Tashkent city, Tashkent and Kashkadarya regions.
