The head of the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage of the Jewish State, Amichai Eliyahu, answering a question from a presenter on the air of one of the radio stations about whether a nuclear bomb should be dropped on the Gaza Strip, said that “this is one of the possibilities.”
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has called unacceptable the words of Israeli Minister of Jerusalem and Heritage Affairs Amichai Eliyahu about the possibility of using nuclear weapons in the Gaza Strip, the UAE Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
"The UAE strongly condemns the disgraceful and unacceptable statements by Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu about wanting to drop a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip. Such statements violate international law and constitute incitement to the commission of war crimes, and they also raise serious concerns about the intention to commit an act of genocide," - noted the ministry.
Earlier, the words of the Israeli minister were condemned by the League of Arab States, as well as a number of Arab and non-Arab countries. Venezuela demanded that a UN meeting be convened regarding his statement.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, in turn, called on the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to take urgent measures to denuclearize Israel.
In this way, he responded to Eliyahu’s statement, which admitted the possibility of using nuclear weapons in the Gaza Strip.
"The Israeli minister's statements about the use of nuclear weapons show the true failure of this state in the face of resistance. The UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency must take urgent measures to denuclearize apartheid Israel," Abdollahian wrote on his page on the social network X.

On Sunday, answering a question from an Israeli radio host about whether a nuclear bomb should be dropped on the Gaza Strip, the Israeli minister said that “this is one of the possibilities.”
He later noted that it is clear to any reasonable person that the atomic bomb claim is metaphorical, but Israel "certainly needs a powerful and disproportionate response to terrorism."
Prime Minister of the Jewish State Benjamin Netanyahu suspended Eliyahu from government meetings and rejected his statements about the possibility of using nuclear weapons in Gaza.
On October 7, Israel was subjected to an unprecedented-scale rocket attack from the Gaza Strip as part of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, announced by the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement. After this, the organization’s fighters entered the border areas in southern Israel, where they opened fire on both military and civilians, and also took more than 200 hostages. In Israel, according to local authorities, more than 1.4 thousand people were killed, including 300 military personnel, and more than 5 thousand were injured.
In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Within a few days, the Israeli military took control of all populated areas near the border with Gaza and began carrying out air strikes on targets, including civilians, in the strip. Israel also announced a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip: the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel was stopped.
The number of victims in the Gaza Strip exceeded 9.7 thousand people, more than 24.8 thousand were injured. The Russian Embassy reported that during the escalation of the conflict, 20 Russians were killed, two were taken hostage, and seven were listed as missing. According to various sources, about 150 Israelis may be held captive by Hamas. The movement itself stated that there are about 200-250 prisoners in the Gaza Strip.
