The Senate of the Oliy Majlis has approved a law introducing a new provision to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.
Under this law, unwelcome sexual remarks, gestures, physical contact, or comments regarding an employee's appearance or physique may be classified as sexual harassment.
Employers are required to create a work environment free from such conduct, ensure employees have the means to report incidents safely and confidentially, and handle such complaints impartially.
Additionally, skin color and political views are being added to the list of grounds for discrimination in the workplace under the Labor Code.
According to Senate data, 2,106 individuals were held accountable in 2,009 cases involving sexual harassment in 2024. In the first half of 2026, 1,293 individuals were held accountable across 1,240 cases.
