The decision of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to improve the otorhinolaryngology service and expand its scope" was adopted.
According to it, from September 1, 2023, the Scientific and Practical Medical Center of the Republic of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Diseases, which has the status of a legal entity, will be established.
The center coordinates work in the field of otorhinolaryngology and organizes its activities on the basis of the "Center - regional medical institutions - district (city) medical institutions" system. Establishes the provision of specialized medical care in the field of otorhinolaryngology and head and neck diseases, takes measures to train specialists in these areas and develop their skills, and forms a scientific school. Introduces modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of otorhinolaryngological and head and neck diseases in the regions.
Starting from the 2024/2025 academic year, the center will organize the training of medical personnel in the specialty of otorhinolaryngology through clinical residency.
The activity of the center is financed by funds allocated from the state budget, grants within the framework of the implementation of state programs related to scientific activity, and funds from the provision of paid services.
Starting from January 1, 2024, medical services in the fields of otolaryngology and maxillofacial surgery will be allowed to be provided by non-governmental medical organizations at the expense of the state budget funds to persons belonging to the privileged category.
In 2023-2024, district (city) multidisciplinary central polyclinics, multidisciplinary medical centers of Karakalpakstan and regions, children's multidisciplinary medical centers of Karakalpakstan and regions in 2023-2024 at the expense of the Korean Eximbank Economic Development and Cooperation Fund , 17 million dollars will be allocated to equip the otorhinolaryngology departments of Tashkent city hospitals and clinics of higher medical educational institutions, the Republican scientific center of emergency medical care and its regional branches with the necessary medical equipment.
