A new chairman of the UN General Assembly will be elected

Cameroonian Philemon Young will be the new president of the UN General Assembly. On Thursday, the election of the president of the UN General Assembly took place at the UN headquarters in New York. The 79th session of this body, which will begin in September, will be chaired by Filemon Yang of Cameroon. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres congratulated the elected candidate and said he hoped Yang, like his predecessor-elect, would play an important role in achieving this goal.
