On July 26, the city of Cholpon-Ata hosted the 5th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
As Report was told in the Cabinet of Ministers, the meeting was attended by a delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan headed by Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmedov.
First, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chairman of the commission from the Azerbaijani side, Ali Ahmedov, and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, chairman of the commission from the Kyrgyz side, Bakyt Torobaev, held narrow-format talks, during which topical issues on the bilateral agenda were touched upon.
Then, with the participation of the heads and authorized representatives of the relevant state structures of the two countries, a meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was held.
Ali Ahmadov thanked the government of Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive development of the Azerbaijani-Kyrgyz friendly relations and strategic partnership.
It was emphasized that an active political dialogue and personal contacts between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan ensure high dynamics across the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
The positive dynamics of trade and economic ties was noted with satisfaction, as evidenced by an increase in trade by 19% in 2022.
Nevertheless, the parties agreed that the volume of mutual trade does not correspond to the level of development of the economies and the existing potential of the two countries. In this regard, the importance of preparing and signing a comprehensive program for the development of bilateral cooperation for 2023-2028 was noted.
The parties also called for the development of investment cooperation, welcoming in this context the completion of the procedure for establishing the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
Ali Ahmadov spoke about the favorable investment climate in Azerbaijan. It was brought to the attention of the Kyrgyz side that a developed infrastructure, investment protection at the state level make our country attractive for investment.
The dynamics of cooperation in the transport and transit sector was positively assessed. At the end of 2022, cargo transportation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan increased by almost 1.7 times, transit cargo transportation increased by 2 times.
The relevance of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, known as the Middle Corridor, was noted. The parties agreed to carry out coordinated work on the digitalization of the Middle Corridor, as well as to strengthen measures to increase the attractiveness of this transport direction in order to attract additional cargo to the route.
The parties also discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the field of renewable energy, agricultural, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
Mutual readiness was expressed to continue a constructive dialogue on the entire range of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Following the meeting, Ali Ahmedov and Bakyt Torobaev signed the Protocol of the 5th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
