A male student who harassed his female classmate was fined

A male student studying at one of the higher education institutions in Tashkent was held administratively liable for making inappropriate, sexually suggestive remarks toward his female classmate.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on May 13 on the university campus. The young man addressed his classmate in a manner contrary to moral and ethical standards. Dissatisfied with the situation, the girl called the 102 emergency line and requested legal action.

During the court hearing, the young man fully admitted his guilt, expressed regret for his actions, and asked for leniency, promising that such behavior would not happen again.

According to the court’s decision, he was found guilty under Article 41-1, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility and fined three times the basic calculation amount — 1,236,000 Uzbek soums.

According to the legislation, sexual harassment — that is, actions expressed through inappropriate gestures, words, or behavior that degrade a person’s honor and dignity — is punishable by a fine or administrative detention. If such an offense is repeated within one year, the punishment becomes more severe.
