A Major Innovation Cluster for the Chemical Industry to Be Established in Tashkent

The President announced the establishment of a major innovation cluster for the chemical industry during a meeting dedicated to the sector’s development.

According to the announcement, an innovative scientific, industrial, and educational cluster for the chemical industry will be created on a 60-hectare site in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent. Within the cluster, a Chemical Technology Innovation Center will be established in cooperation with South Korea. The government will cover 50 percent of the costs associated with research and pilot testing activities conducted at the center.

In addition, by the end of 2027, the Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology and the Tashkent branch of the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia will be relocated to the new cluster area.

The implementation of new projects is expected to increase demand for specialists in modern fields such as nanochemistry, green chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, and AI-based chemical modeling. To support this effort, professors, lecturers, and department heads from 35 higher education institutions that train specialists for the chemical industry have been assigned to major projects.

During the meeting, instructions were also given to begin implementing a program that includes the launch of more than 350 chemical industry projects worth a total of $17 billion.

In particular, the need to transform the “Uzkimyosanoat” system and develop it based on modern management principles was emphasized.
