A Hero Fighting Parkinson’s Through Counter-Strike
You may remember the 77-year-old grandmother who once amazed everyone by taking down five opponents in a single round of Counter-Strike. Now Kazakhstan has its own remarkable hero: 86-year-old Sadi from Almaty, who plays Counter-Strike for two hours every day to combat Parkinson’s disease.
According to his family, Sadi could barely hold a computer mouse when he first started due to severe hand tremors and poor coordination. But through consistent gaming and daily practice, he gradually improved and can now play comfortably — even keeping up with much younger players.
His relatives say that thanks to gaming, Sadi has shown noticeable improvement in:
-
hand coordination,
-
reaction time,
-
focus and attention,
-
sleep quality,
-
mood and emotional stability.
Doctors observing his condition confirm that video games can have measurable benefits for Parkinson’s patients. Such activities stimulate the brain, enhance motor coordination, and may help increase dopamine levels — which can ease symptoms of the disease.
Sadi’s story is not only a medical example but also a powerful reminder of human determination. He proves that age is just a number, and technology can empower people of any generation.
