A fight broke out on the pitch after the 2026 FIFA World Cup final
After the 2026 FIFA World Cup final ended, Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes got into a confrontation with Spain's players.
Paredes first grabbed defender Eric García by the neck and then pushed midfielder Gavi. The incident was stopped by players from both teams. The referee considered Paredes' actions to be serious misconduct and showed him a straight red card.
In the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, Spain defeated Argentina 1–0 after extra time, becoming world champions for the second time in their history.
