A fight broke out in the Turkish parliament

A brawl broke out in the Turkish General Assembly during a vote on the 2026 budget and 2024 final financial statements. During the discussion, a verbal altercation broke out between members of the two parties, which escalated into a fight. During the incident, one of the deputies suffered a head injury and was hospitalized. Despite the tension and brawls, the 2026 budget bill was approved by vote at the end of the session.

This is not the first time that this has happened in the Turkish parliament. In 2022, a brawl broke out during the budget debate, which temporarily suspended the session. In 2023, a deputy died after suffering a heart attack while speaking in parliament.
