For the first time in Tajikistan, a complex operation - circular dissection of the trachea - was successfully performed.

This was reported by the Ministry of Health.

The operation was vital for a 10-year-old girl who was diagnosed with tracheal cancer.

It is noted that the health condition of the operated girl is stable, and she has already been discharged home.

The little patient’s attending physician, surgeon Jovid Jamshed, noted that until now in Tajikistan only palliative operations were performed, that is, a tracheostomy tube was placed for ventilation of the lungs, essentially leaving no chance for a full cure.

He explained that the trachea is located between the larynx and the main bronchi, and through it air enters the lungs, as a result of which, if there is swelling inside, patients cannot breathe. Thus, people with tracheal cancer in Tajikistan did not live long, but now Tajik doctors can save more than one life, the surgeon noted.
