The role of Peeves, the poltergeist considered Hogwarts’ biggest troublemaker, will be played by Peter Serafinowicz, a British actor and comedian known for Shaun of the Dead, The Tick, and John Wick: Chapter 2. Peeves is one of the most memorable supporting characters in J. K. Rowling’s book series. He is often mistaken for a ghost, but he is actually a poltergeist. Peeves has lived at Hogwarts for hundreds of years and, according to legend, appeared alongside the school’s first students. He has a particularly close relationship with the Weasley twins, Fred and George. Their shared love of pranks and breaking rules brings them together. Originally, the role of Peeves was supposed to be played by Rik Mayall. He took part in the filming of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, but all of his scenes were ultimately cut during editing.
