87 environmentally hazardous enterprises in Tashkent to be relocated outside the city

In Tashkent, it is planned to relocate 87 industrial enterprises with high environmental hazards and high energy consumption to the outskirts of the city. This was reported by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change.
The decision was adopted within the framework of the President's strategy "Uzbekistan - 2030" dated January 30, 2025, and provides for the modernization of enterprises and their gradual relocation outside the cities. These measures apply to asbestos, cement, metallurgy, leather and footwear, poultry farming and other industries with high energy consumption.
As a result of the inspections, the activities of Uzvtorsvetmet JSC, which falls into the I category of environmental hazard, were suspended and it will be relocated to an industrial zone in the Jizzakh region. The enterprise was assigned 18.09 billion soums in compensation for environmental damage. The measures taken will prevent the emission of 226.7 tons of harmful substances into the air per year.
