86-year-old woman found locked inside her home in Tashkent

An 86-year-old woman was found locked inside her home without care in Tashkent’s Mirzo Ulugbek district. A video widely shared on social media shows a door-opening service worker unlocking the house, after which the elderly woman says she had been locked inside and had not eaten for several days.

The National Agency for Social Protection stated that the case has been taken under control and that the woman’s social circumstances and needs are currently being assessed.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, the house belonging to the woman was transferred to another person under a sale agreement in September 2025.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 168 of the Criminal Code (fraud), and a preliminary investigation is underway.
