852 Prisoners Pardoned in Uzbekistan
Ahead of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, 852 prisoners were pardoned by a presidential decree.
Of them, 604 will be fully released from their sentences, while 115 will be released on parole. The sentences of another 52 prisoners will be replaced with lighter forms of punishment, and the prison terms of 81 prisoners will be reduced.
Among those pardoned are 375 young people, 49 women, 37 men over the age of 60, and 7 foreign nationals. In addition, 63 of them are individuals who had participated in the activities of banned organizations.
Since 2017, 31 presidential decrees on pardons have been issued. Under these decrees, a total of 10,567 prisoners have been pardoned.
