8 planes and 26 helicopters involved in extinguishing forest fire in Canakkale

In the Turkish province of Canakkale, measures are being taken to extinguish a forest fire.

Report informs, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya wrote on X social network.

According to him, 2,659 employees of AFAD, the forestry department, the Turkish police organization, the gendarmerie, the Ministry of National Defense, municipalities and private departments are involved in the region.

8 aircraft, 26 helicopters, 240 water sprinklers, 71 water tankers and 328 units of other equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.

As a precautionary measure, 1251 people were evacuated in 9 villages. In particular, 72 people were evacuated from the nursing home in the village of Saryjaeli.

The minister stressed that the Canakkale-Chan highway is closed for civil traffic, and the Dardanelles - for maritime traffic.
