A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Indonesia's Flores Island on the morning of August 15. At least five people died as a result of the disaster. Due to the quake, hospital patients were evacuated for safety, and medical staff set up temporary treatment stations outdoors. Additionally, nearly 2,000 people were evacuated to safe locations in the Nagekeo area. Power and communication services were disrupted in some regions.
Following the earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued, and waves under one meter in height were recorded in certain areas. The tsunami warning was lifted after approximately three hours. Dozens of aftershocks followed the main tremor.
