59 years since the “Tashkent Earthquake”

59 years ago, on this very day, on the morning of April 26, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake devastated the entire city of Tashkent. More than 300,000 people were left homeless, and many historical monuments and buildings were damaged. However, our people have overcome those difficult days and are living a peaceful and tranquil life on the streets of beautiful Tashkent. The 1966 earthquake reminded us of one truth once again: the earth may shake, but the will and unity of the people can overcome any hardship.
