3500 mothers pay alimony in Uzbekistan-MIB

In Uzbekistan, 3,500 women are paying alimony to support their children. This was reported by the Bureau of mandatory enforcement. As of early 2025, there are 348,000 enforcement documents related to alimony, a 45% increase from 2018. Of this, 3,500 belong to mothers.

The highest number of cases were reported in Samarkand, then in Fergana, Surkhandarya and Andijan. Usually alimony is the responsibility of men. However, when a child is given to the father, the mother may also be a payer by court order.
