A three-year-old girl in Kazakhstan died after having 18 teeth treated under anesthesia at the same time. This was reported by Tengrinews. The incident occurred on October 30, 2024. The child did not regain consciousness after 3.5 hours of anesthesia.
The anesthesiologist is on trial in a criminal case, and the dentist did not appear in court. The investigation revealed that medical records were improperly maintained, important examinations were not conducted, and medications were not recorded in the documents.
At the court hearing on November 25, the prosecutor read out the expert's conclusions. According to them, the girl's death was caused by a lack of oxygen - hypoxia, which led to brain swelling. The anesthesiologist allegedly continued anesthesia despite contraindications, and when the condition worsened, he intensified it.
