3 kg stone removed from man's bladder in Sri Lanka
In Sri Lanka, doctors removed a bladder stone weighing 3.1 kilograms—roughly the size of an ostrich egg—from a 55-year-old man.
Difficulty urinating was detected while the patient was undergoing treatment for a stroke. Examinations revealed the presence of a massive stone in his bladder. The surgery was led by urologist Pragaladxan Balakrishnan, who noted that the stone weighed as much as a newborn baby. The patient is currently in good condition.
Doctors say this could enter the Guinness World Records as the largest documented bladder stone. The previous Guinness record was set in Brazil in 2003, involving a stone weighing 1.9 kilograms.
