Two people were killed and dozens injured in the Baltimore District festival shooting. The shooters managed to escape.
The police of the American city of Baltimore are studying the reasons for the shooting, which took place on the night of Sunday, July 2, during public celebrations in one of the city's themes. An 18-year-old girl was killed in the shooting, and a 20-year-old local citizen died later in the hospital. In addition, 28 people were injured in the incident, three of whom were in critical condition, the local police reported.

According to Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley, the crime scene was much wider, but police and investigators were looking for gunmen.

The media noted that the incident occurred against the background of mass celebrations held throughout the United States on the eve of the country's Independence Day celebration. As an example, the AP agency also cites a similar incident in which nine people were injured in a shooting in one of the Kansas State clubs on the night of July 2.

One witness to the Baltimore shooting told the media that during the festivities, people mistook the sound of fireworks blasts for bullets, and because of this, they did not immediately pay attention to the actual shooting.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, speaking to reporters at the crime scene, condemned the incident, calling it “a tragedy that shouldn't have happened. "It once again underlines the need to fight against the highest level of illegal weapons on our streets and the possibility of taking it into their hands for those who should not have it,” the politician said.
