$240,000 Taped to Their Legs: Attempt to Illegally Smuggle Cash Out of Uzbekistan Foiled
Two citizens were detained while attempting to illegally take $240,000 in cash out of Uzbekistan into a neighboring country through the Navoi border customs post in Tashkent Region.
During an operation conducted jointly by customs officers and the State Security Service, the behavior of the citizens, who were crossing the border on foot, raised suspicion. They were subsequently subjected to a personal search.
As a result, a total of $240,000 in cash was found hidden and taped around their legs. The money had not been declared in the customs declaration.
A pre-investigation inquiry into the incident is currently being conducted by customs authorities.
