22 schoolchildren poisoned by cotton defoliant in Kashkadarya

Twenty-two students in the G‘uzor district of Qashqadaryo were hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning caused by a chemical sprayed to accelerate cotton ripening.
On September 23, students in grades 10 and 11 at School No. 51 experienced nausea and headaches. Preliminary reports indicate that this was caused by the chemical "Agro Augron," which had been sprayed on a nearby cotton field. Currently, seven students are undergoing treatment at the G‘uzor District Medical Association, while fifteen students whose health has improved have been discharged home.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident under Article 201, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Relevant forensic examinations have been ordered, and an investigation is underway.
