Operation Anti-Terrorist in Karabakh

On September 19, Azerbaijan announced local counter-terrorism events in Karabakh in order to “restore the constitutional system” and began to shoot the unrecognized Republican territory. This was explained by provocations of the Armenian side, including the death of Azerbaijani police officers in a car explosion on the Ahmadbeyli—Fuzuli—Shusha track.

On September 20, a ceasefire agreement was reached – one of its conditions was the disarmament of the Karabakh army and the withdrawal of the Armenian military from the unrecognized republic.

Russian Ministry of Defense on September 20, Russian peacekeeping forces were killed in Karabakh. Among them is deputy commander of the pacifist contingent Ivan Kovgan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev apologized for the incident in an interview with Vladimir Putin.
