13 streets in Samarkand to be converted into pedestrian zones

The President held a meeting on the issues of comprehensive development of the Samarkand region and improving the living standards of the population in remote districts.
The meeting considered plans for the specialized development of Bulungur, Narpay, Akdaryo, Pakhtachi, Qoshrabot, Kattakurgan districts and the city of Kattakurgan based on their economic potential.

According to the plan, in the field of agriculture and livestock, it is planned to launch breeding and poultry enterprises in Bulungur, Qoshrabot and Pakhtachi districts. Narpay district and the city of Kattakurgan will be transformed into industrial and service centers. Large industrial zones will be created in these regions and it is planned to attract foreign companies, including Japanese investors. Akdaryo district will specialize in textile, poultry and processing industries.

Tasks were also set to reduce unemployment and poverty, increase exports, and double the industry and services sector. Special attention was paid to the development of the tourism sector, and the initiative to convert 13 streets in the historical center of Samarkand into pedestrian zones and build new tourism and service facilities was supported. At the end of the meeting, it was decided to take large-scale measures to improve infrastructure, modernize road, water, and electricity networks, and build social facilities.
