13.9 Billion Soums in Budget Funds Embezzled in Nurafshon

Budget funds totaling 13.9 billion soums were embezzled by inflating the reported cost of construction work at a wastewater treatment plant in the city of Nurafshon, Tashkent Region. This irregularity was uncovered during a pre-investigation check conducted by the Zangiota District division of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office.
It was revealed that the construction work was carried out under a contract between the Tashkent Regional Directorate of the "Engineering Company for the Construction of Water Supply and Wastewater Facilities" SUE and the Tashkent Region "Suvoqova" SUE.
The inspection found that while construction work actually valued at 73.3 billion soums was performed, the documents listed the cost as 87.2 billion soums. A criminal case has now been initiated regarding this matter.
