A 6.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in western Nepal on Saturday night, November 4. Nepalese police spokesman Kuber Kadayat told CNN that 129 people were confirmed dead and 140 injured in the incident.
Nepal's National Center for Earthquake Monitoring and Research recorded a magnitude 6.4 earthquake. According to him, the epicenter of the earthquake was in the Jayarkot region, which is 400 km away from the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu. The US Geological Survey estimated the earthquake's magnitude as 5.6, the Indian Seismological Center as 6.4, and the German Geophysical Research Center in Potsdam as 6.2.
The impact of the earthquake was also felt in New Delhi. The Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said that he was "deeply saddened by the human and material damage caused by the earthquake." The government has sent security forces to help with search and rescue efforts.
