12 people burned to death in a house fire in Turkistan

On November 18, a fire broke out in a two-story private house in Algabas village, Zhetysay district of Turkistan region. Twelve bodies were found inside the house, nine of whom were children. According to witnesses, horrifying screams were heard at the scene. People tried to escape from the burning house, but the window bars prevented them from getting out.

Among the victims were five children from one family — three girls and two boys. From the second family, one girl born in 2018 survived. Three other victims have been hospitalized: two adults and one young child are currently in the intensive care unit. It was reported that the family had celebrated a circumcision ceremony that day, continued the party at home, and the fire broke out at dawn.

A criminal investigation has been launched under the article “Violation of fire safety requirements.”
